The Wellness Reset I Didn’t Know I Needed

How sunshine, serendipity, and a soft reset pulled me out of winter mode.

I’ll be honest—this winter had me in a chokehold.

Not in a dramatic, everything-is-terrible kind of way. But in the slow, sneaky way where you don’t even realize how much you’ve retreated until suddenly…the sun comes out. You make an iced coffee for the first time in months. You make it back into the gym and feel a really good morning recovery soreness. Your friends convince you to say yes to a setup. Next thing you know, you find yourself standing in front of your closet wondering when the last time was that you felt open—to new seasons, new routines, new people.

This month, I’ve been thinking a lot about renewal. Not just the “clean out your fridge and switch your bedding” kind (though, yes, that’s happening too), but the softer kind. The kind that shows up as a shift in energy. A little more ease. A lot more light.

This is the wellness reset I didn’t even know I needed—and it’s not about overhauling my life. It’s about coming back home to myself.

Body: Move, Nourish, Rest

My body’s been practically begging for something different lately. Lighter movement. Food that feels fresh and energizing. A wind-down routine that actually signals rest, not just a scroll-til-I-pass-out spiral.

Instead of sprinting into a “hot girl summer body” mindset, I’m asking:

What would it feel like to simply take care of myself well this season?

That looks like walks in the sunshine, adding greens instead of removing carbs, and listening when my body says it’s tired (even if it’s 8:45 PM and I’m mid-Netflix episode).

Small shifts. Big difference.

Mind: Clear, Reframe, Open Up

There’s something about the return of longer days that makes everything feel more possible. Lately, I’ve been noticing the mental clutter I’ve been carrying—old thought loops, self-doubt, winter-era stories that don’t belong to me anymore.

I’ve been replacing them with better questions:

  • What am I newly open to?
  • What stories am I done telling myself?
  • What does joy look like for me right now?

Saying yes to playful, low-stakes experiences felt liberating instead of overwhelming. But it also reminded me that my mindset had quietly shifted—I’m no longer in hibernation. I’m ready to see what could bloom. I saw this quote recently, that nothing in nature blooms year round, so we shouldn’t expect ourselves to either. I agreed with that profoundly, recognizing that it wasn’t about criticizing myself for not blooming in the winter, but recognizing that we are in a new season, and the time to bloom is now.

Soul: Reconnect, Align, Expand

The soul work is the slowest, but the most satisfying. I’ve been craving more time offline, more moments of natural beauty, and more intentional solitude that actually fills me up.

Wellness, for me, isn’t just green juice and yoga (though I love my yoga…). It’s wandering through the farmer’s market. Buying flowers for no reason. Cleaning my loft with a good playlist on and the windows open. It’s showing up for myself in small, sacred ways—no performance, just presence.

A Glimmer Moment

If you’ve been in your own kind of winter fog, consider this your gentle nudge:

You don’t need a total transformation. You just need a soft reset.

Take a deep breath. Sit in the sun for five minutes. Say yes to something unexpected.

Ask yourself:

What’s a glimmer I’ve felt lately that made me think—yes, I’m coming back to life?

Drop me a note in the comments or on IG (@MKintheMoment):

What’s your favorite way to reset this time of year? Fresh flowers? A new playlist? A mini wardrobe refresh?

I’d love to hear it—and maybe borrow your ideas for my next reset moment.

Mindfully,

MK
